All levels are welcome in this class led by watercolorist and mixed media artist, Sharla Sevy. Class will be held on Saturday, July 28 from 9:30 AM-3:30 PM. Sharla will teach masking at least a portion of the foreground and preserving the white of the paper in some areas. This will allow us to paint the background first and strategize light and shadowed areas of our painting. When we are satisfied with the background, we remove the mask and begin detailing the foreground. Bring references from garden books, magazines or calendars to guide you through painting the details of your dahlias. Instructor will provide references, demonstrations, offer guidance in regard to compositions, etc. Participants should bring two 11″ x 14″ sheets of 140 lb cold press watercolor paper “stretched.” Alternatively, a watercolor block would work. Bring your palette, brushes, and other watercolor tools you use. Instructor will have extra materials for your use in class. Instructor will offer paper, already “stretched” at a cost of $3 per 11″ x 14″ sheet. Fee for the class is $60 for images and all instruction. Bring lunch or a snack. A minimum of 5 students is required to hold this class.
